San Luis Obispo County has several small museums that are perfect for children.
Morro Bay’s “Natural History Museum” is specifically designed for young children.
Paso Robles has a new Children’s Museum, inside a converted Firehouse.
San Luis Obispo has recently re-opened its Childrens Museum , now bigger and better than before!
All of these offer lots of hands-on activities and places where kids can and do make lots of noise. The docents are there to encourage kids to explore, and answer their questions.
Arroyo Grande also offers several fun places for kids to learn about the past. After they go over the fun pedestrian “swinging bridge” downtown, they are at the entrance to the “Santa Manuela School”. This is a genuine one-room school. Go inside and discover how kids used to learn. There’s a nearby barn with old vehicles, and house with original furnishings ca 1900, and a nearby house that was home to one of the first doctors in the area. All great places to learn about the past.
