Arroyo Grande

arroyo grande swinging bridge

Located two miles east of the Pacific Ocean, surrounded by farms, flower-fields, and wineries, Arroyo Grande, California maintains a distinct village character throughout its vibrant downtown shopping and dining district. A wide variety of architecture defines the surrounding neighborhoods with unique and beautiful Victorian homes mixed  with contemporary structures.

Spanning the downtown Arroyo Grande Creek is a rustic swinging bridge. It's a favorite avenue for pedestrians to reach the "village," a cluster of historic building museums, antique stores, gift shops, upscale boutiques and restaurants.

List of upcoming Arroyo Grande Events & Activities

Arroyo Grande, California is a charming town that lies along Highway 101 under the moderating influence of the Pacific marine layer. The village is a pedestrian friendly collection of shops and boutiques. Some of them feature the bounty of the nearby farms and vineyards.

Arroyo Grande is a gateway to the south county's outstanding wineries by way of highway 227 toward San Luis Obispo through the world-famous Edna Valley or by heading in the direction of Lopez Lake to visit Laetitia, Talley, Saucelito Canyon and Rancho Arroyo Grande vineyards. Many of these vineyards and wineries welcome visitors, and there are numerous tasting rooms open during normal business hours for your wine country tour. You can use our Online Travel Guide to check out the specifics for these wineries, and plan your own personal wine country vacation or contact a wine country tour operator to help you.

The swinging bridge that crosses Arroyo Grande Creek is justly famous. At 171 feet long and 40 feet above the creek, it is a memorable way to reach a fun destination. There is no other bridge like it in California - and no better destination.
