Bell Tower at Mission San Miguel California

This beautiful tower is actually a memorial to a local Mission priest that was killed while serving during WW 2. This tower appears very briefly in the scene from Alfred Hichtcok's movie "Vertigo", when Kim Novak and Jimmie Stewart are supposedly arriving at Mission San Juan Bautista, about 150 miles to the north.

Mission San Miguel front in San Miguel California

Dummy Pouring Wine in Rios Caledonia Adobe in San Miguel California

Look closely - there is only real one person pouring wine here. Photo taken during the annual Car Show held at the Rios Caledonia Adobe very near the Mission San Miguel. The Adobe dates from the mid 1800's and still has one of the very few remaining paved sectons of the original Highway 1. (It was a gas station at the time.) Has also been a house, tavern, stage-coach stop, inn and much more thru the years.

Tuscan Style Winery Building in San Miguel California

This new winery building, near the edge of San Miguel and Paso Robles, was designed to resemble a villa in Tuscany. You too will think you are in the famous Italian wine and food region as you drive through the rolling hills of Paso Robles and Templeton, with their many vineyards and olive trees.
