| Kids Biking Along the Bob Jones Trail In Avila Beach California |
The Bob Jones Trail is a popular biking, jogging and dog-walking paved path in Avila Beach. It runs through woods, alongside rock outcroppings, crosses a small creek and finishes at a beautiful golf course. The trail is relatively flat and about 2 1/2 miles long.
There is a large parking lot at one end (with wine tasting room next door), a charming beach-front small town at the other end (with several great restaurants and delis) and even a small deli about half way along.
Many serious bikers use the Bob Jones Trail as a turnaround / rest break for longer bike rides along the coast. The Bob Jones Bike Trail connects to the Pacific Coast Bike Trail on Ontario Road. |

Hard to believe that you are in the same state as Los Angeles and San Francisco with this early morning view of tranquil Avila Harbor and the Harford Pier. The town of Pismo Beach is at the base of the hills in the distance.
The Harford Pier was built in 1873 by Captain John Harford for the loading and unloading of boat passengers and cargo, using a horse-drawn railway, when this harbor served as the main port for San Luis Obispo County. It now offers great views of the local town, cruise boats, seals, and a popular local restaurant. |
