The San Luis Obispo County Visitors & Conference Bureau (SLOCVCB) is a tourism marketing organization. The Bureau has been in existence since 1986, it is funded by the SLO County government, most incorporated cities in the county and through membership dues. It spends several hundred thousands of dollars annually to market the county and bring visitors to the area.
Our goal is to drive potential visitors to our website and to our Members’ website. By doing this, along with a number of other tactics, we can bring new business to our members!
We offer many services to our members. These services include:

Our website receives an average of over 4,000 visitor sessions per day. Every member has a link to their site and automatically receives ongoing reports tallying click-thrus from our website to their website.- Member Coupons Listed on “Special $ Deals” webpage

Members can list their special events of interest to visitors on the website’s “Calendar of Events” section at no extra charge. This is one of the most popular pages on our website. A weekly PDF listing of events of interest to visitors that is emailed to over 500 member hotels, restaurants and wineries. Many members display this weekly 3-page bulletin at their front desks. This is also posted as a downloadable PDF at the top of the Calendar page.- Website Advertising Options
Members may advertise on the website through “mini-tower” ads in the right-hand column and /or by enhanced member listing in their web section for an additional charge.- Listing and Advertising Option in Print Guides
We print an annual Visitor Guide and circulate over 40,000 copies. The Guide includes feature articles showcasing the county. Lodging, Wineries and Restaurants receive a free listing in the guide. The Guides are then distributed free of charge to people requesting them, tour operators, agents, Trade Shows and at selected California Welcome Centers.- Group Leads
We receive ongoing requests from groups, meeting planners, wedding and reunion planners seeking meeting space in the county. This is collected and then emailed to interested members.- Print & On-line Co-Op Advertising Options
Members can take advantage of discounted advertising rates in major publications such as California State Visitors Guide, Sunset Magazine, Fresno Bee, Bakersfield Californian along with on-line opportunities on latimes.com.- Email Newsletter Options
Members can take advantage of the affordable advertising rates in monthly emails to our “eSpecials” which is sent to over 12,000 subscribers who frequent San Luis Obispo County.- Trade Show Coverage
We participate in a number of consumer and travel trade shows across the country. As a member you are represented by our staff or can take advantage of joining us!- Sales Forum Luncheons
A bi-monthly event, offering you a chance to network with other business members in the community. At least once a year, we coordinate a networking “Speed Dating Packaging Party” to allow members to create special offers together.- Member Newsletters
Every month Executive Director, John Summer emails out our member newsletter with brief articles of interest about the local tourism industry and the SLOCVCB.- Seasonal Listings
A list is maintained about which restaurant, golf, and winery members are open during key holiday periods: Thanksgiving Day, Christmas & New Years. This information is emailed to members to inform their guests.- PR Opportunites
Members may receive mentions in news articles and guide books, based on inquiries from media received by our office.- Restaurant Month Promotion
A special promotion is held in January of each year, to encourage tourism during this traditionally slow period. This is also promoted in local media.
