San Luis Obispo to Host Two Major ‘Vintage’ Events

The City of San Luis Obispo will pay tribute to the glory of the past with two high-profile, vintage-themed events on the first weekend of June 2012. Sponsored by the San Luis Obispo Tourism Business Improvement District, the San Luis Obispo Concours d’Elegance car show will take place from Friday, June 1 to Sunday, June 3, 2012 at the Madonna Meadows, while the Remnants of the Past vintage show will be held on Saturday, June 2 and Sunday, June 3, 2012 at the Alex Madonna Expo Center.

SLO County Celebrates National Tourism Week

The San Luis Obispo County Visitors and Conference Bureau (SLOCVCB) partners with the U.S. Travel Association to celebrate National Tourism Week, May 5 - 13, 2012. Tourism is currently the number one industry in San Luis Obispo County with visitor spending totaling $1.1 billion in 2010. In addition, industry earnings generated by travel and tourism spending reached $390 million and industry employment generated by travel spending was just over $15.4 billion. This week recognizes the economic benefits tourism brings to San Luis Obispo County's local communities.

National Train Day

Luna Red, a popular downtown restaurant, has moved locations and is re-opening its doors at 1023 Chorro Street, near the entrance to the historic San Luis Obispo Mission. The restaurant will begin dinner service at its new location tomorrow night, Saturday, April 28, 2012.
