Pismo Beach – Oceano Dunes Recreational Vehicle Area (The only legally derivable beach in California). This is where Cecil B. DeMille created the land of the Pharaohs for The Ten Commandments in 1923.

The flat and rolling open expanses in the North and Eastern portion of the county have doubled for several states, without snowy weather.

Paramount’s “We Were Soldiers” found the double for their Viet Nam battle scenes in our coastal hills.

Location and geography
San Luis Obispo County is located on the California Central Coast, halfway between Los Angeles and San Francisco. The distance from downtown LA is 190 miles, abut 3 1/2 hours driving time. San Luis Obispo County covers over 3,300 square miles and includes portions of the Los Padres National Forest and the southern range of the Santa Lucia Mountains.

We experience a pleasant, Mediterranean-like climate year round. Averaging 315 days of sunshine per year. Our rainy season generally falls between the Months of January and April. Our average rainfall is 22 inches.
